Tell us what you think of the site

Whether you're a speech therapist, a parent of a child with CAS, or a friend we'd love you to tell us and others what you think of the site. We welcome contributions and ideas to make it better.

So what is CAS?

When you're told your child has Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) you're scared, but also confused -- and really just don't understand what it means. You can find our definition here but we want to explore what your experiences have been. It's amazing how similar these kids are, and the emotions we share.

Questions about CAS

Your speech pathologist is the best person to ask, but they have not necessarily been parents to a CAS kid. This is a blog where we can share our frustrations and ask questions of each other -- and a place where we can offer support to each other. Don't be shy, we're all going through it!

Games to help with word practise

Getting a toddler to do anything is difficult, let alone having to do hundreds of repetitions of the same word (and one they usually find difficult) every day! But making word practise into games can help. There's a list of games we've found useful here, but we want to hear what's worked for you. Let's share.

The complexity of CAS

Kids with CAS not only find it hard to say their words. Anecdotal evidence also suggests CAS kids may have fine motor and dietary issues, and can be sensitive to touch and sounds. But they are usually bright little things, who share similar interests with each other -- such as computers. Tell us about your experiences.
